General African Hunting

The book universally considered the best up-to-date book on which rifles, calibers, scopes, and so on to take to Africa is Safari Rifles 2 by Craig Boddington.The Perfect Shot II by Kevin Robertson shows anatomically correct drawings of the location of the vital parts of all African Game animals found below the Zambesi. It is in all in color and also contains hunting methods and natural history of game animals. Invaluable book!

African Hunter II by Craig Boddington and Peter Flack is the most comprehensive in depth book available on African big Game hunting as it exists in the 21st century. It covers 23 different countries and over 200 different game animals. Like its predecessor, James Mellon’s African Hunter (1975) it has been universally hailed as the best book ever on African hunting. It is the standard reference text for all who go on safari.

The Safari Guide II edited by Peter Flack and Dr. Jacqueline Neufeld contains current up to date information on the 10 most active safari countries in Africa today (Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Botswana. The contributors (over 25 of them) have unearthed every possible scrap of perishable information on these countries (firearms importation regulations, license fees, hunting regulations, trophy fees, hunting blocks, harvest statistics, block lease holders and a ton more. It has articles on how a safari goes before, during, and after going on the trip. It gives the reader details with estimated costs, backgrounds on countries, list of animals, and so on.
