John Seerey-Lester

6 December 1945-19 May 2020

John Seerey-Lester, award-winning wildlife artist and a great supporter and friend of the Safari Press family, passed away on 19 May after a brief battle with cancer.  Born and raised in England, John relocated to America in 1980.  He loved his adopted country and became a citizen in 2012.  He is survived by his wife, Suzie, and his son, John Jr.

With his work hanging in the White House, as well as museum collections, private homes, and assemblages all around the world, John Seerey-Lester is world renowned as one of the top wildlife artists on the planet. His unmistakable depiction of African wildlife has graced the covers of two Safari Press books, Karamojo Safari (out of print) and Incidents from an Elephant Hunter’s Diary.

He also wrote and illustrated three books of his own: Legends of the Hunt, Campfire Tales, and The Legendary Hunts of Theodore Roosevelt

Our deepest condolences to his family. John will be sorely missed.
