The Rowland Ward Foundation has long recognized that working with local people to conserve wildlife is not an option—it’s an urgent necessity. An excellent example of how community involvement benefits wildlife is the Association of Nature Conservation Organizations in Tajikistan, or ANCOT. The Rowland Ward Foundation supports and helps fund ANCOT’s mission, and we are pleased to see their important work recognized and applauded in a mainstream publication like The Guardian. It highlights how, through funding from big-game hunters, Tajikistan's community conservancies are doing an amazing job of conserving ibex, markhor, Marco Polo sheep, and snow leopards!
