Paul Du Chaillu traveled from the West coast of Africa into the interior of what is today the Gabon, Cameroon and the Zaire (DRC). He is said to have been the first white man to discover the existence of the bongo. He is also sometimes mistakenly claimed as the discoverer of the gorilla. His work created controversy with many people doubting his reports.

Very good copy, rebacked spine.
